- Managing Element Libraries and Property Editors.
- Load Flow Analysis
- Configuring Study Cases and solution parameters.
- Understanding the Newton-Raphson, Fast Decoupled, and Adaptive Newton-Raphson methods.
- Practical Exercise: Executing Load Flow analysis, interpreting results such as voltage drops and power factors, and utilizing the "Alert View" to identify overloaded components.
Short Circuit & Motor Starting Studies
- Short Circuit Analysis
- Introduction to IEEE and IEC standards for fault calculations.
- Analyzing 3-phase, Line-to-Ground, Line-to-Line, and Double Line-to-Ground faults.
- Determining the Duty and Breaking capacity of Circuit Breakers.
- Motor Starting Analysis
- Modeling Static versus Dynamic motor starting.
- Evaluating the impact of "Voltage Dip" on the rest of the system during motor acceleration.
- Practical Exercise: Comparing "Direct-on-Line" (DOL) starting against Star-Delta or VFD starting methods within the simulation environment.
Protection Coordination & Network Simulation
- Protective Device Coordination (Star View)
- Introduction to the ETAP Star (Protection & Coordination) module.
- Integrating Overcurrent (50/51) and Ground Fault (50N/51N) relays.
- Plotting Time-Current Characteristic (TCC) curves.
- Selectivity and Discrimination
- Adjusting relay settings to ensure only the faulted section is isolated.
- Verifying transformer damage curves and cable thermal limits.
- Hands-on Workshop: Distribution Network Simulation
- Capstone Project: Building a standard distribution network from scratch.
- Performing a comprehensive study including Load Flow, Short Circuit, and Coordination.
