Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a pre-prepared presentation on a subject of the participant’s choice, relevant to their work.
Note: The duration of each participant's presentation will depend on the overall course length and the number of attendees. A group size of eight is ideal.
- Comprehensive one-to-one and group feedback
Preparing a Presentation
- Key questions the presenter should consider in advance:
- Why am I presenting?
- Logistics: what, where, when, how – and what is the time limit?
- Understanding how the answers to these questions influence the presentation structure
- Structuring the content:
- Research – gaining in-depth knowledge of the subject
- Organizing the content logically
- Creating and utilizing complementary visual aids
Preparing the Presenter
- The presenter’s three core communication tools:
- Verbal – choosing appropriate words and avoiding slang and jargon
- Vocal – managing tone and avoiding distracting verbal tics or excessive pauses
- Visual – the presenter’s appearance: attire, mannerisms, and presence
- Rehearsing the presentation and obtaining honest feedback from a trusted source
- Strategies for managing nervousness
Preparing the Environment
- Room layouts and how they convey subtle messages to attendees
- Using the space to enhance the overall presentation experience
Presentation Skills – Revisited
- Delivery of a second presentation (after adequate preparation time).
Note: This can be a revised version of the presentation from Module 1, incorporating detailed feedback.
